1. Life & Vitality

Elizabeth de Ath runs her mosaic sculpture practice Inspired Mosaic from her beautiful garden studio in Brighton. ‘Light, colour and texture all enhance the quality of your life. I do believe that mosaic is an art form which transcends others in it’s impact with light, texture and colour and it’s this ability that, once hooked, makes this medium such an intriguing creative enquiry. Of which even with over 15 years experience I am always looking to reform my practice and move in ever more experimental and inventive directions.' http://inspiredmosaics.co.uk

Carcross is a very small and scenic town in the Yukon Territory in Canada. Originally known as Caribou Crossing, it is located on Bennett Lake and Nares Lake. It is also home to the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. It is located perfectly between Whitehorse (Yukon, Canada) and Skagway (Alaska, USA). Started in 1898 during Klondike Gold Rush, Carcross is also Canadian destination for historic White Pass & Yukon Route railway service. In this video, I captured shots from the retail village known as "Carcross Commons". A perfect example of an artistic wood-work, this area features beautiful totem poles, a carving shed, the Carcross Visitor Information Centre, bakery/coffee shop, wooden benches, a restaurant and art gallery. When you are here, you just don't want to leave.

        • Booragul Wetlands

          from john cliff Added

The Booragul Wetlands were created by Lake Macquarie City Council as part of a renewal/repair program for Lake Macquarie...the wetlands act as a filter for run-off water before it enters the lake. As part of this project, artworks were created - 10 ceramic totem poles were made by pupils of Booragul Public School which is across the road from the wetlands. The pupils were guided by indigenous artist Doug Archibald and ceramic artists Sue Stewart & John Cliff. The project was instigated and overseen by Lake Macquarie City Art Gallery. 6 of the poles were located in the wetlands and 4 in the grounds of the school. Unfortunately, over time, vandals have destroyed all but 2 of the poles which remain at the wetlands almost hidden from view by the luxuriant growth of the original planting. Shot on Canon 60D with Magic Lantern RAW, graded in ACR then edited in Premiere Pro with FilmConvert Music: "For Originz" by Kevin McLeod http://incompetech.com

The Forest of Totems is an interactive installation consisting of five inflatable Totem Poles that grow organically from a large central artery. Upon entering the installation the visitors’ movements trigger the artery to push air into the Totems, causing them to rise upwards with a pulsing rhythm. Their anthropomorphic and organic Gestalt reminds the viewer of the unity between Man and Nature.
