    • MADproductions: trailAddiction's Backcountry Spirit

      from Trans-Savoie Added 8,299 63 1

Our friends from MADProductions came to join Trans-Savoie's videographer António Abreu at our trailAddiction HQ, after this year's event and we went back to some of Antonio's favourite locations from Days 2 and 3 in the Les Arcs / Peisey-Vallandry and surrounding area. This is what they had to say about their trip: "There's something very special about the singletrack in Les Arcs.... Everyone is always searching for the next adventure, so do we. Since we have summer weather all year long in Madeira Island, Portugal, when August arrives it's time to pack the bags, load the bikes in the plane and just go, usually with a european destination in mind. It's the perfect way to forget about our college studies and focus in something that keeps you alive. We didn't want to ride our downhill bike this summer. We started planning our summer in February, searching for a unique experience. That's when we found Trail Addiction, based in Les Arcs, France. They seemed to have it all: the enormous single tracks, the massive uphill’s and adventure. When you combine all of these aspects of riding you really can't ask much more. If you want to live and experience the ultimate enduro riding, we recommend Trail Addiction crew. Really unique moments, great trails, great accommodation, food and friendly people. Make sure you visit www.trailaddiction.com for more information about the riding in Les Arcs. Thanks for the support EVOC, Bike Zone, Unit, Six Pack Racing, Vittoria, Les Arcs, Trail Addiction and Peisey Vallandry."

      • Trans Savoie 2014 Supported By Shimano Day 3 - La Plagne - Champagny - Bozel

        from Trans-Savoie Added 12.7K 26 4

Rain stops play on Day Three at the Trans-Savoie. Freezing cold temperatures and lift closures mean for the safety of the riders all timed stages were ridden off the clock. Sadly the highest pass of the race had to be removed from the itinerary - 2800m altitude with high winds and sub-zero temperatures was too dangerous, even for the hardly souls that have come to test themselves against the hardest the Alps could throw at them. Today it was very much a day of Mother nature One, Enduro riders, Nil! Normal service is resumed tomorrow, but it doesn't mean the racers still didn't have fun riding in trains down super-steep sketchy trails. This is the spirit of the event - smiles fun, and camaraderie even in the face of adversity!

More footage of the trip to Destination X in July 2013. Sounds by Cut Chemist and The Fast Show (Scorchio). I have no rights over these etcetera. And how we could do with some scorchio in England right now. It's February and it's been raining constantly since mid-December with half the country underwater and the trails turned to sh*t the only way we can get any MTB kicks is by dreaming of dry, fast trails like these.

It's a return to the 70's for inspiration as I finally get my hands on some of the last footage shot on our week in Beaufort-Areches otherwise known as Destination X with TrailAddiction in July 2013. Filming & riding is mainly Paul following Steve or Will the TA guide or Steve following Paul, all shot on Paul's GoPro (thanks Paul, loving those yellow gloves by the way). Featuring some really fast riding, lots of sketchiness, a tankslapper as well as a few crashes thrown in there's also a peeing Kiwi, canines, doner kebabs, burps and Paul chugging a Smirnoff Ice. There's also Will the guide shredding the gnar on his Cannondale with Lefty fork and surreptitiously checking his watch as Stevo has yet another mechanical (that single ring no front mech and rear clutch mech combo never quite worked did it mate?) See if you can spot where Ben Jones makes a very, very quick guest appearance. Ooh la-la! Alright fellas? Well, let's go! Any resemblance to actual events or locales or persons, or between Wobbem and the dog are entirely coincidental. I don't have any rights to Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet (RIP Brian, I remember grooving to this on TOTP back in 1973).
