from Mark 'Indy' Kochte Added 130 1 0

In April of 2014, the Mid-Atlantic Climbers hosted their third Rockfest event, this time out at Coopers Rock State Park in West Virginia. 70-odd climbers came out to help the Park and MAC staff with trail work, crag clean up and de-graffiting, etc. Despite the dreary and cold weather, much work was accomplished and a great time was had by all. After the projects were completed, there was climbing, then dinner, raffle, and a movie, followed by a bright sunny Sunday morning breakfast.

            from CORBA Added 2 0 0

MWBA, CORBA, and Angeles Mountain Bike Patrol volunteers, all certified sawyers and Forest Service volunteers, cleared a series of downed trees that fell the week before. Previously a navigable but awkward path had cut through the day after it fell. We waited for better conditions to bring the saws out. It was a productive 3 hours, condensed here into a two-minute timelapse. Consider joining CORBA at http://corbamtb.com/join or the MWBA at http://mwba.org. You'll be supporting the work we do here locally to keep trails open, and the work being done nationwide to promote the sport through IMBA.

The restoration of Strawberry Peak trail is a model of how collaborative efforts can help get things done. CORBA worked with a generous grant from REI, along with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, Mount Wilson Bicycle Association, Sierra Club's Angeles Chapter, the National Forest Foundation, Bellfree Contractors, and the Forest Service. Similarly, a San Gabriel Mountains National Monument Community Collaborative Group has been assembled to help provide both input to the Forest Service on the future of this new National Monument and the Angeles National Forest, and to raise awareness of this wonderful national resource to the community at large.
