Things are moving quickly toward “I do” now that Washington voters have approved marriage equality, but some legal issues persist due to federal and state failures to recognize marriage for same-sex couples. Moderated by Anne Levinson, the "Marriage Equality Explained" panel took place December 3 in Seattle and included David Ward of Legal Voice, Public Interest Law Group and ACLU cooperating attorney Hank Balson, Shelbi Day of Lambda Legal, and Jill Mullins of the QLaw Foundation discussing how state and federal laws impact the realization of full marriage equality, from taxes, insurance, Social Security benefits, immigration, and parental rights to the Supreme Court ruling on the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act. An audience Q&A followed the discussion. AUDIO ONLY. 0:00:00-0:25:00 Welcome and Acknowledgments 0:25:00-1:30:00 Panel Discussion 1:30:00-2:23:30 Q&A Portion Recorded at Town Hall Seattle on December 3, 2012. Presented by Pride Foundation.

General consensus seems to be the public should be allowed to vote on amending Chapter 13 of the City Discrimination ordinance to include newly defined protected classes. Testimony was given on both sides of the issue. "Statistics" were thrown back and forth often with no sources of information cited. Books were recommended to be read by one side or another... Even the Bible was challenged... verses were thrown back and forth… Old Covenant Jewish Dietary Law was confused as being in force today in spite of Saint Peter’s revelation in Acts Chapter 5. Liberal “christians” must have a tough time getting around the Apostle Paul’s words in Romans 1:27, “And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.” One Citizen proclaimed "God is not the author of confusion"... rightly so... but many worship a man-made god rather than the God Who made man. Historically, no less than three civilizations have ceased due to unintended consequences of immorality. http://www.ksallink.com/?cmd=displaystory&story_id=21115&format=html http://www.salina.com/news/story/Public-meeting-1
