I am interested in hybridization using 3D modeling tools, animation and 3D printing to comment on constructs of gender found within instances of sexual selection (Sexual selection is a mode of natural selection in which some individuals out-reproduceothers of a population because they are better at securing mates.[1][2]). The project adaptation, in the form of toys – i.e. Barbie, figurines, and a playhouse – creates a comical experience with more serious undertones. By meshing body ideals in human culture and body ideals in animal and insect culture, I hope to direct the viewers attention to the absurdity and prevalence of sexual selection and gender based stereotypes dominant in our society. zoedoubleday.com/?p=775

Ligo Project visits Dr. Scott Lowe’s lab at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to learn about colon cancer as part of the Ligo Project Art of Science program. Lab members Luke Dow, Geulah Livshits, and Kevin O’Rourke explain colon cancer and demonstrate processes that the lab uses to learn about and fight colon cancer. The Ligo Project Art of Science program aims to make science more accessible to all, using art to do just that - combining the two disciplines to explore questions that affect us all!
