I was told to shoot a scene from a previously existing movie. I've never seen this movie, but I am told that it does exist somewhere. All I was given was a transcribed script, meaning a script that isn't even the actual film's script, but someones interpretation of what's going on as they are watching the scene, writing things down. Pretty cool side note; this was shot in a crackhouse. I took my knife with me just in case i needed to do some self-defense stabbing. The camera wasn't synch sound, so that's coming soon.

Is That a Fish in Your Ear? ranges across the whole of human experience, from foreign films to philosophy, to show why translation is at the heart of what we do and who we are. What's the difference between translating unprepared natural speech, and translating Madame Bovary? How do you translate a joke? What's the difference between a native tongue and a learned one? Can you translate between any pair of languages, or only between some? What really goes on when world leaders speak at the UN? Can machines ever replace human translators, and if not, why? The biggest question is how do we ever really know that we've grasped what anybody else says - in our own language or in another? Surprising, witty and written with great joie de vivre, this book is all about us, and how we understand each other. http://www.penguin.co.uk/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,9781846144646,00.html - Animation by Matt Young (http://www.mymymy.co.uk) - Produced by Alan Trotter (http://www.greaterthanorequalto.net)

Special thanks to rastAsia who helped me out here to open my Dutch spoken video to the Vimeo community: great English translation of the original difficult dutch script, he also recorded his own voice, wich fits very well to the original idea of the video. Original Dutch version: vimeo.com/1112318 Much better than subtitles in this case. Oh yes, I love that little tree :) A moment of poetry. I didn't upgrade to HD from SD to keep full quality of the visuals.

Hi there, today I build some gear to translate the very small focus wheel at the camera to a much bigger wheel. With this it's possible to change focus from one object to another very smooth. I highly recommend to build a translation gear for the focus wheel. :) Pictures will eventually follow... http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_1.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_2.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_3.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_4.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_5.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_6.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_8.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_9.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_10.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_11.jpg http://birnschein.microforge.de/sonstiges/hv20/bilder/overall_12.jpg

In 1962 Sri Swamiji was gifted an old bicycle by an elderly Muslim whose son's life was saved by the sacred ash given by the twenty year old Satyanarayana (Swamiji). Fifty years ago Sri Swamiji had predicted in a casual conversation his future glory to this generous and compassionate soul. He knew even then that hundreds of thousands would follow him and that cars and airplanes would constantly transport him. 'Thatha' means grandfather, an affectionate way of addressing an elderly man. 'Loka' is world. This old bicycle is kept in the Vishwam museum at the Mysore Ashram. The healing music heard in the background is from one of Sri Swamiji's concerts. These episodes are based on 'Ganapathy Sachchidananda' - a biography of Sri Swamiji written in Telugu by Sri Kuppa Krishnamurthy. There is no exact printed version of the translated English text used in these videos.
