This piece was a collaboration with one of my best friends who is also on the same Visual Effects and Motion Graphics course as myself. This is the first project which had a focus on 3D camera tracking. Me and Isaac decided to film an alleyway and bring it into the future. We wanted to bring our piece into a bleak industrial future covered in air pollution and reminiscent of movies like Blade Runner and games like Deus Ex. We picked this particular alleyway because the right side has a very cool and futuristic looking gold wall which is the side of the John Lewis building in Cardiff. We filmed on a skateboard and then took the footage into PFTrack. At first the program was daunting but with time we figured it out and realised how awesome of an app it is. We created our elements in Illustrator and then took the elements and matchmoving information into After Effects. I was so happy with how this came out and being able to camera track in 2D and 3D seems crucial to me now and I can't imagine having to do future projects without it. We wrote a synopsis to set the scene. The year is 2042. China developed even quicker than anyone could have foreseen. Now the capitol of the world leading in technology whilst impacting the whole world culturally and socially. Cardiff now bought and owned by China is used solely to manufacture and produce the new power source named ‘Jianyu’ meaning building the universe. The district workers are paid in food and shelter and are unable to relocate. Although Jianyu is essential to run the new world capitol its byproducts are heavy polluting the once great country. Daylight has been blocked out by a thick fog of lung destroying Jianyu residue. The only thing to pierce the dust clouds are the acid rain storms. All animal life and plant life seize to exist in the uk and only basic food is imported. Old workers never grow to be very old, instead they just disappear. There’s a new food being served to the Jianju workers but some question the origin of the meat being used… This video was made for a university project and is non-profit, I did not create the music and do not own the music. Music used: Still Gone by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. Gone Girl OST.

Before settling on the band name that now carries their fame, the JFE was known as the Knights of NIN. Their unique take on the all-too-familiar genre of psychedelic post-punk erotic gutterfunk may have been their best work.
