My first solo wedding project may not be outstanding by any professional standards, but considering the limited resources I had, and the lack of experience, I think this video still captures the essence of Sara & Chuck's wonderful wedding day. I've learned a lot from this & am looking forward to shooting another wedding in June. Here is a quick look into a beautiful day of unforgettable memories for the bride and groom, who got hitched in the incredible & historic, Trinity Church on Wall St. & Broadway in lower Manhattan, & the reception to follow, across the bridge in Brooklyn at the remarkable River Cafe. Blessed with perfect weather & surrounded by the presence of family & friends, it was truly an amazing day full of love & joy for the newlyweds. My hope is to bring the smiles & memories back to each of you, as you watch this video & remember this great day in the lives of Chuck & Sara. Enjoy.

Debussy’s piece Clair de Lune stirs up a lot of childhood memories and scraps of images in my mind. In particular, lying in the back of a car, driving through the countryside in Austria, staring at the scenery passing by the window as the tune played on repeat in my earphones. This provided the basis for my film Age Six. I wanted to create a series of almost home-video style snapshots into the ordinary happenings of a six year old girl. The slow passing of time, the annoying younger brother, new discoveries, the need to be alone….and the simple pleasure of riding in the back of a car. The whole film leads up to this one event where the little girl gets to escape her small world of flowers and trampolines, and gets to watch the bigger world pass by, almost like a movie. In the style of the film, I decided to play around with colour correction rhythmic timing. In the area of colour, I experimented with slightly different hues to create an almost patchwork effect, as though the footage had been shot on all different scraps and types of film stock. This gave the whole film an earthy, handmade feel. With the rhythm and timing, I also wanted to move aside from the usual editing style. Instead of cutting directly to the beats of the song, I used the action within the shots to guide my sense of timing and emphasis of each note. You may notice in one shot, the little girls eyes seem to direct the notes on the piano, and later in the film, her legs skip like the fingers on the keys. This I found challenging, but much more rewarding overall, as the end result was a delicate balance between homemade and intricate styles.

Vast majority of sounds created by myself using objects in and around my home. When this was not possible (e.g explosions and gun fire) I took samples from BBC SFX CD's and the free sound project @ http://www.freesound.org/ Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated as I am looking to start a career in audio post production and am continually looking to improve!
