‘Machine’ is a moving image piece focusing on the mechanical features of the human body. The piece shows three alternate videos each displaying a different active section of the human figure. When closely examining the body, it is more machine-like than we initially recognise, subconscious in the mind; breathing in particular exemplifying the body and its mechanical aspects. The purpose is to encompass the viewer creating self-awareness to bodies viewing the work reminding us as humans that we are more machine-like than we identify.

""Untitled: Morning" is the first in a triptych of three short films (“Morning”, “Afternoon”, “Evening”). The short experimental films (together) document an average day in my life, as part of an on-going collaborative discussion/art practice with the 8th Floor. The films aims to engage with discussions surrounding art-making, studio, process-orientated art but also with idea of "being"; art as a 'living practice' or "art as life"." 8th Floor is a collaborative/artistic group which was formed in September 2013, the nucleus of which formed at Central Saint Martins (London, United Kingdom). The group aims to engage in dialogue on art education and institution, studio and the idea of 'being' (in the most literal of senses). The group actively engages in a multi-disciplinary collaborative art practice, participating in contextual but also active discourse on the socio-cultural implications of current art education and and art-producing methods. It presents diverse phenomena generated by thermal contrasts which evolve in crescendo. More info : http://www.francois-quevillon.com/html/en/node/36 Installation video (2001). Art Work Submitted by Sean Hottois for Art Prize. This triptych, "8-Bit Buddies", accolades digital primitives seeking connection to those who enter their personal space. These three are self-contradictory: reluctant and emphatic visitors that cannot leave. Reminiscent of the minimalistic view of a possible future (now past) they use limited expressive means to cry off and welcome. Cry off our pre-supposed perception of technology as savior. Welcome us to surround and experiment on them. As simple entities, with flaws and blinders, this triumvir can only see those who step into a narrow world of digital proselytization to deities discarded. This triptych "8-Bit Buddies" is comprised of the following sculptures: 1. This is Not a Gun This is a loose reference to the recent controversy over 3D printed hand guns. It responds only to a viewer who stands directly in its line of sight, and then it shoots off its mouth. The speed of the response is randomized using the viewer's range as the numeric kernel. Media: Fiberglass rod and prototyping board, 3D printed plastic, light emitting diodes, Arduino, piezo speakers, various electronic components, rubber, medium density fiber board. Dimensions: 12" x 12" x 41" 2. The 8-Bit Ascendant This work is a combination of multiple current technologies and tools configured to imply an earlier time. It is an intentional implication of Plasticpunk if you will. In fitting with this now-stalgic ideology The 8-Bit Ascendant currently communicates a message often read at the end of the presupposed 8-bit era as it transitioned into a networked age. However, each time this sculpture is installed a new message is introduced providing an alternate experience. Media: Fiberglass rod and prototyping board, 3D printed plastic, light emitting diodes, Arduino, piezo speakers, various electronic components, rubber, medium density fiber board. Dimensions: 15" x 12" x 96" 3. AgoraProbe_1 A direct response to a previous work, deliberately destroyed by a pre-tween in a tutu. It was not a performance piece, though that would have been awesome. That older piece was named Howard Hughes & Paula Deen acknowledging and emulating the systematic process leading up to and engaging agoraphobia. This work is lighter, stronger, more modern, and more resilient while also being afflicted with said phobia. In fear, it has come searching for its predecessor participating with the species it fears. Media: Fiberglass rod, 3D printed plastic, light emitting diodes, micro controllers, prototyping board, piezo speakers, wire. Dimensions: 34" x 34" x 69"
