Today I wanted to put theory into practical, using the voice over we have been given I worked on Adobe Flash and just added the essential mouth movements (without any morphs) just to test if the mouth looked a bit realistic.

Here I have worked on using an animation brush to replicate the lantern face and simply changed the colouring of it each time to make it seem like it is flickering.

In todays TVPaint lesson we learnt a bit about the cameras and how to do simple camera shots. Using this video from last week I added a zoom to it. The way the camera zooms into the pigs eyes could suggest a thought process, all I'd have to do is do a voice over of the character itself and without even animating a mouth movement I would have a way for the character to connect to the audience

This camera shot was harder than I first expected. I experienced difficulty drawing out the path for the camera to go which then made complications further on when I tried to animate a character walking on top of the scene using a key frame. But I seem to have got the kinks out of this animation and will attempt the key frame later this week instead when time is not limited to a digital session.

Here I have repeated the short cycle so that there is a loop. I was hoping to get the effect of wind pushing its way through the material.

So after having temporary trouble with Adobe Flash and TVPaint, I thought I would go back to my original hand drawn flag animation and draw over the top of it to create a better flag cycle. I then used a red and a blue pastel to mark out highlights and shadow in the material - something I touched upon in TVPaint but couldn't recreate in Flash.

Following my previous hand drawn tests I thought it would be interesting to reshoot the frames backwards after I had gone through the cycle, this was the result.

So TVPaint wasn't going too well for me when it came to the physical movement of the flag, I decided to go back to a program I know - Flash - and try animating from there. There where ups and downs to doing this, but at least I tried.

In TV Paint today I learnt how to make an animated brush, I mapped out my basic animation, selected the frames and turned them into a brush, by then holding down control and dragging the brush across the page it now looks like my character prances across my screen.
