1. Memory: Loss and Retained

    from Aaron Miyashita Added 63 0 0

A two part short experimental film about memory loss and retaining in a college student's life. The second segment is found footage of the UC Davis protests and police brutality. In a world where having a good time requires you to lose your memories from the previous night, it is interesting how pictures can immortalize those moments. Conversely, this tragic moment at UCD will never be forgotten and is perserved, potentially forever. Enjoy.

An experimental film with the theme of "taboo." This piece was created to question techology's grasp around our sensory attention span and how despite the fact that we might see something amazing for the 1st time or the 100th time, we would much rather detach ourselves from this world to record it so we can see it again later at our leisure. To think this desensitization has happened in the matter of a few decades, it can only be frightening to think what changes alter our perception within the next century. Produced for Film 176 UCSC Fall '11
