NOV 2013: KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN FOR NEW FILMS - CLICK HERE - http://hyper-reality.co The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualise the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it. A film produced for my final year Masters in Architecture, part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.

In late 2012 I joined forces with Cantina Creative to help deliver over 100 shots for IRON MAN 3. Marvel tasked us with designing all the elaborate 3D head-up displays (HUDs) – a virtual graphical interface that Iron Man sees from within the helmet environment of his armored suits that communicate essential data and statistics ranging from his physical condition to weapon and navigational diagnostics – While putting strong emphasis on the new ultra-high-tech Mark 42 suit, we also delivered upgraded HUDs to match the new suits seen in the film. It was great fun. All of the 3D elements, including a miniature version of the suit and the holographic helmet, were generated and rendered from CINEMA 4D. These graphics had true 3D depth, which heightened the stereo viewing experience as well as the interactive light qualities that are both photo-real and immersive. This is a process montage that was created to give some insight into the development and design thinking stages of the work I was specifically involved with on the film. This is a projection mapping project we've been working on for about a month as of uploading. It's a user interface for Serato Scratch Live that is vinyl rotation reactive, as well as sound reactive, and makes it possible to mix using Serato without having to look at your computer screen whatsoever. Want to see what this concept would look like on your iPhone 5? Watch this demo video on your device: http://vimeo.com/jessehead/appswitcherdemo This is a quick demonstration of an iOS switcher concept, aiming to bridge the gap between app switching and multitasking. For more information, I've posted my thoughts on my blog (http://jessehead.co/blog/2013/03/20/ios-app-switcher-concept-multitasking-redesign/), describing the kind of decisions that went into this design concept. If you're feeling extra generous, please take a second to share this with your friends... would really appreciate it!

Kinect + Computer Vision + Javascript DepthJS is a web browser extension that allows any web page to interact with the Microsoft Kinect via Javascript. Find out more at http://depthjs.media.mit.edu Navigating the web is only one application of the framework we built - that is, we envision all sorts of applications that run in the browser, from games to specific utilities for specific sites. The great part is that now web developers who specialize in Javascript can work with the Kinect without having to learn any special languages or code. We believe this will allow a new set of interactions beyond what we first developed. DepthJS is open source under the AGPL license. http://github.com/doug/depthjs Created by (in alphabetical order) Aaron Zinman - http://web.media.mit.edu/~azinman Doug Fritz - http://www.dougfritz.com Greg Elliott - http://gregtelliott.com Roy Shilkrot - http://www.morethantechnical.com/ We are students in: Fluid Interfaces Group - http://fluid.media.mit.edu Information Ecology Group - http://eco.media.mit.edu
