      Catherine Seavitt: Risk Conference at Taubman College on March 30, 2012. Catherine Seavitt is an associate professor of landscape architecture at the City College of New York. She is principal of Catherine Seavitt Studio, an interdisciplinary practice in New York premised on the collaborative integration of architecture, landscape, and public infrastructure. Seavitt's research interests include the study of adaptation and mitigation for coastal communities that will be transformed by climate change. She is the co-author, with Guy Nordenson and Adam Yarinsky, of the book On the Water: Palisade Bay, which presented the findings of the 2007 FAIA Latrobe Prize research grant, an infrastructural and ecological study and master plan proposal for the Upper Bay of New York and New Jersey given the effects of sea level rise. This work served as the inspiration for the workshop and exhibition "Rising Currents," which opened at the Museum of Modern Art in 2010. Her research was also included at the U. S. Pavilion exhibition Workshopping: An American Model of Architectural Practice at the 2010 Biennale di Architettura in Venice, Italy. Seavitt's degrees include a B.S. from University of Michigan Taubman College of architecture and urban planning, a bachelor of architecture from Cooper Union, a master of architecture from Princeton University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from The City University of New York. She is a registered architect in New York State and a LEED accredited professional. Seavitt received the Rome Prize in Architecture from the American Academy in Rome, and was a Fulbright Fellow in Brazil. She currently teaches landscape architectural design and landscape restoration at the City College of New York. She has also taught at Princeton University, Harvard University, The Cooper Union, University of Virginia, and Parsons School of Design. Seavitt is completing a book manuscript on the public gardens of the landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx in Brazil and Venezuela, studying issues of pattern, scale, and the modernist landscape.

Research Director of the research platform "Airports and Cities" that investigates airport-driven urbanization processes in an international comparative approach. Doctorate (2010) on the history of the scenario method: "Dutch New Worlds. Scenarios in physical planning and design in the Netherlands, 1970-2000", co-financed by the Dutch Architecture Foundation. Publication fully funded and published with 010 publishers Rotterdam (2012). Frequent lectures, conference papers, guest critics, and articles on urban design. Project-based work as consulting architect and urban designer in cooperation with architecture, urban design, and planning offices. Salewski has an engineering degree from Technical University of Berlin and a Ph.D. from ETH Zürich.
