I saw an old railroad bridge and thought that its rustic looks would look good on camera. My original thought was to tell the story about the history the bridge had witnessed. However, my thoughts began to go back farther in history. I began to think about Harriet Tubman's underground railroad network that helped slaves escape to freedom. The railroad symbolizes freedom. This video is to honor Harriet Tubman's courage and sacrifice."Go Down Moses" performed by Les Petits Chanteurs de Montigny (Creative Commons). The Harriet Tubman photo (by Squyer, NPG, c1885) is in the public domain.

First Family of Virginia. Southern Belle. Abolitionist. A very adept spy. She took her convictions in her hands and put her life on the line. Elizabeth Van Lew, a true American hero, was an abolitionist living in Richmond, Virginia during the Civil War. Crazy Bet, as she was known, ran a spy ring for the North out of her home. She and her free yet unfree compatriot, Mary Bowser, helped numerous slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad and made escape possible for many captured Union soldiers held at Libby Prison. They also gathered and forwarded much information on Confederate troop movements to Lincoln, Grant and Butler, among others. Both women successfully survived the war. Elizabeth lived until 1900. The last word from Mary was in 1867. This is an original one-woman play written by Paullette MacDougal, directed by Gaia Farnam and acted by Rae Petersen. It was enetered into FronteraFest 2011, Short Fringe, in Austin, Texas, and was chosen for Best of the Fest.

This summary video shows footage from the historic Price of Life Invitational conducted by R. York Moore at the Ohio State University in April, 2010. The purpose of the Ohio State Price of Life Invitational Campaign was to bring together leaders from the university, church community, legal and business arena and political realm with those local, national, and international organizations on the front lines in the battle against human trafficking in order to raise money, awareness, and advocates amongst faculty and students at the largest college campus in America. Bringing the voices and talents from these diverse networks will help us stop the horrors of modern day slavery and sexual exploitation.Through this unique lens of advocacy, networking, and education, we hope also to help those exploited as modern day slaves by raising money and awareness at the Ohio State University.
