Our society's relationship with sexuality and reproductive freedom is deeply conflicted and passionately contested. And religion is almost always playing a role-whether or not we recognize it or want it to. What's going to move us forward, and what does our faith have to do with it? What might our religiously-grounded vision of sexuality look like? Rev. Rob Keithan is the Director of Public Policy for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. He has served as Director of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Washington office, as a consultant to the United Church of Christ Justice and Witness Ministries, and as a consulting minister for two UU congregations. He has also trained facilitators for the Our Whole Lives comprehensive sexuality education curriculum. Rob is an affiliated minister at All Souls Church Unitarian and lives with his partner, Mandy, in Washington, DC.

Our human world is plunging toward genocide. The only thing that can save us is a transforming message. And speaking such a saving message is the mission of religion. Do Unitarian Universalists have this message? I believe we do. Call it spirituality. Here are questions we will seek to answer about spirituality: What is it? Is it catching? What if I don't want it? Can I embrace it whatever my current beliefs? What does it have to do with the principles that govern the universe? Is it so imperative it demands to be viewed as holy? Rev. Robert Latham grew up in the Southern Baptist tradition and has been preaching since he was 13 years old! He entered the Unitarian Universalist ministry in 1969 and has served several UU congregations, including Jefferson Unitarian Church from 1988 to 1997.

This reflection is from the service entitled, "The Medicine of Sacred Rhythms, Sacred Songs," led by Suzanna Stone. From the service description: "The rhythm and songs from within are your heart-songs made audible for the world to hear. In this empowering service we will cover the basics of drumming while learning the intricacies of drumming in a group. Through traditional West African rhythms we will explore the drum as a healing extension of the spirit. We will learn and sing simple yet sacred songs to re-connect us to the beauty and spirit found within and all around."
