Checkout 4k version on our youtube channel: http://youtu.be/FwDuM68_rLc Here's some of our experiments with particles using krakatoa in 3ds max(Compositing in Nuke). All variations were done from only one simulation(fumefx+pflow). Krakatoa gave us some amazing results with all it's possibilities. We have chosen the cosmic theme for our tests. We started with comet like energy ball, that leaves dusty trail filled with energy. After that we created some fiery space formation and different nebulas and ended out particle movie with space sandstorm. Learn more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gödel,_Escher,_Bach It offers my interpretation of Strange Loops of Self Reference, recursion, and the emergence of consciousness and self-awareness: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_loops "To Hofstadter, the human mind is a bright, shimmering, self-sustaining miracle of philosophical bootstrappery" - Lev Grossman, Read more: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1599720,00.html#ixzz2MyMGywag "You know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your whole life" - The Matrix It is also inspired by some of the writing of Erik Davis in Techgnosis.com about the hero's journey taken by NEO in the Matrix in order to understand who he is: "Neo must then face his own Cartesian "passage through madness," melting into a mirror that alludes not only to Lewis Carroll but to the mystic-psychotic collapse and disappearance of the externalized ego that stabilizes our inner void. As Neo phases out of the Matrix, he opens up, however briefly, the fractured bardo that is the secret thrill of every fan of the "false reality" genre: the moment when baseline reality dissolves but no new world has yet emerged in its pixelating wake. This is the most radical moment of the cogito, but it's tough to sustain." This video is based on the map experiments I have done to illustrate the Anthropocene. It shows several features of our global civilization: cities, built environment, transmission lines, pipelines, main paved and unpaved roads and railways. More maps can be found here, including some with airline routes, shipping lanes and submarine cables: http://www.globaia.org/en/anthropocene/

              from Knate Myers Added 34K 435 28

Reset is a timelapse film made up of some of my favorite shots from 2013. It showcases the beauty of the American Southwest. All photos were taken in Colorado, New Mexico and Texas except the one short clip of what I believe is the first ever timelapse of the Milky Way over the Caribbean Sea taken from the balcony of a moving cruise ship ;) I had originally intended this video to be much different. I was fortunate to travel to many places last year but unable to fit all the footage I shot into a cohesive, thoughtful film. I look forward to using those shots in future works. I think any artist who works on a project for a long time knows how satisfying it is to finally complete it. As the new Milky Way season begins, I'm happy to wrap up one project and excited to start the next. The title "Reset" reflects that feeling. So here it is - enjoy :-) If you want to see the amazing night sky of Namibia yourself and learn how to take great night photographs, come join us on our Namibia Untamed photo tour. from Stefano Pasotti Added 16.6K 361 15

Out of nothing Matter was created. Out of Matter a Goddess was born. A Goddess inlaid with Stars dances in the Emptiness. The Goddess' Dance creates Light so that Shadows can now exist. The Universe as we know it is created, filled with its dim distant dying Stars. A Sphere rustles between Goddess' hands. Earth is born. HAMMOCK'S CHOICE: Honorable mention #1 Lensbaby Blog article: http://lensbaby.com/blog/film-video/film-video-interview-with-stefano-pasotti-3d-graphics-specialist/ Nofilmschool article: http://nofilmschool.com/2013/11/stefano-pasotti-effects-incamera-ex-nihilo/ I want to thank Moovie Rental Milano for providing camera and equipment, my father for helping me out at the very beginning of the editing when I bogged down and all people that made this project possible. Everything was shot internally on the Canon EOS C500 at 60 fps in 720p with C-Log. Being blacklight bulbs a very weak source ISO settings were between 2500 and 3200 but still all clips were very very clean. For the abstract shots I used a Lens Baby Control Freak with an f 2.8 Aperture Disk and sometimes a Lens Baby +4 Macro filter attached on. For the rest I used Zeiss Compact Prime 50mm T 2.1 shot wide open. I also used a Vari-Star filter for different shots to enhance light-rays and to make the colors glow a little bit more. I edited in Premiere Pro CS6 and exported into After Effects CS6 for color-correction and visual effects. The earth was modeled using Maya and rendered with V-Ray. -directed and edited: Stefano Pasotti -make up artist: Sara Bonzi, Marzia Parini -model: Elisa Spinelli -music: Hammock – Cold Front (Departure Songs)
