I wrote, directed, designed and produced this short period piece as a segment of a three-part research thesis project for my undergraduate degree. The project was a biographical analysis of the historical Mary Ann Talbot, explored creatively through the media of film and theatre, accompanied by a research paper. I still need to fix the color correction in several scenes, but here it is, anyway.

Directed/Edited/Screenplay by Ethan Parks Story by Carl V Rossi Filmed by Logan Gee Sound by Zane Parks Blackmagic Cinema Camera - Prores This project was for my film directing class at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. This was my first test with the BMC and did we learn a few things. It was done with a crew of 3 (director/cinematographer/sound) and only a few shots were done with and diffusion. Everything was shot in 4 hours so there wasn't much time to think. For lenses we used Canon 50 1.8 and Tamron 10-24 3.4. We tried shooting everything at the cameras native ISO of 800. To get that we stacked and ND.9 and and ND.6 resulting in turning all my grey's brown and not recoverable. This also made everything VERY difficult to color correct. Also not sure what is causing the flicker, but one of my friend had it happen by the ND filters reflective light between each other. I would like to try and color correct it again sometime, but I don't currently have the time. It was edited in Vegas and graded in After Effects. Nearly every shot has at least one mask on it to recover a certain area of the image. There was some noise reduction done and the color of the sky was replaced in almost every shot. For an external battery we hooked it up to a car battery that my dad had laying around the house. It was a little big but it worked! A little crazy for the first time using the camera but at least we learned something! And the exercise for class wasn't about how well the camera looked, it was about my directing :) Thanks to everyone who worked on it! Please let me know what you think!
