This is a video diary made of a recent collaboration between myself and renown New Zealand painter Karl Maughan (http://www.karlmaughan.com) for an event called the Orcon Great Blend which took place at Auckland's Civic Wintergarden on Friday Night (10.09.10). It was a project truly in the spirit of what Urban development was initially set up to achieve and so it's something I'm really thankful for organiser Russell Brown for instigating. I would say if you haven't attended one of these nights before then look out for the next one! It was really exciting for me to be able to share my work with a range of Auckland creatives - many people in attendance were people I admire a lot personally so it was also really humbling. The collaboration itself was a lot of fun - a little last minute as you can see as we started only a couple of days before the event. I got to learn a lot about Karl's processes and also realised we had a lot of common ground despite working in really different fields of painting. I guess one conclusion I came to was the only real difference was likely a slight generational one as I'm almost certain had Karl grown up in my era he would have gravitated towards painting in spray paint! By the end of the video you can see how fearless he was with the medium.

An original short experimental film. Progress is a perspective on the city of Cardiff, an ever developing environment, becoming more and more modernized and current. Government and local council spending helps to fund a lot of business and property development in Cardiff. So why so many homeless? Why so many derelict and run down communities? Progress is not a documentary covering all the facts, it is merely an insight so that people may see the parts of Cardiff they may usually miss when they go there on vacation.

Lost and (Puget) Sound was produced through a grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology to the City of Seattle in partnership with Seattle Public Schools, Everett Public Schools and the City of Tacoma. The 26 min. cinematic feature follows three teens who lose a key down a storm drain. In their search for the key they learn about stormwater pollution in Puget Sound and they discover they can do something about it. The film was produced for Seattle Public Utilities by Ijo Arts Media Group (www.ijoarts.com) and directed by Bogdan Darev. The video comes with a presentation/discussion guide, a worksheet for the students to complete in class, and two optional community extensions which can be assigned either as homework or a service learning activity. One is an adult/student reciprocal interview, and the other is an education/outreach activity. The program is designed in cooperation with stormwater outreach professionals and local school district science resource staff to educate and inspire behavior changes to prevent pollution and to complement existing mainstream science curriculum. The package is appropriate for a standalone element or to add local connections to several common elementary and middle school science kits including Landforms, Land and Water, Ecosystems and Solutions and Pollution. Pilot programs are underway in upper elementary and middle school classrooms in several cities this spring. The package will be available for distribution in mid 2011. This film, captured over two weeks in November 2010 by a group of Danish planning students, it is a part of a research experiment on how to use film as a method of urban development. The film uses a strongly subjective narrative, with no aim to point out answers to the challenges Detroit is currently facing. However we hope our methodology can inspire planners to include new perspectives from everyday life in their work: creating future cities. You can watch the film in full length or see the different chapters on this channel. www.vimeo.com/channels/viewsofdetroit We captured a full round with the light rail system of Detroit "The People Mover". We challenge musicians to download the film and ad their own soundtrack to it. We will gather the work at the People Mover channel: www.vimeo.com/channels/peoplemover _______________________________________________ Metodeeksperiment udført af tre studerende fra Plan, By & Proces, et byudviklingsstudie på Roskilde Universitet. Dette er ikke en dokumentar film i traditionel forstand, men et eksperiment over hvordan man kan bruge filmen som et aktiv research-, analyse-, empowerment- og dialogværktøj i byplanlægningen. Materialet er optaget over 14 dages feltarbejde i Detroit november 2010. Filmen er spundet over fire forskellige koncepter, der i denne film er sat sammen over flere forskellige kapitler.
