Recognizing the need for concerted action to increase nutrition impacts through at-scale social and behavior change communication (SBCC) programs, SPRING partnered with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN - http://www.gainhealth.org/) to convene a gathering of global SBCC thought leaders from across public and private sectors to develop a strategic research and implementation agenda and action plan for accelerated nutrition gains through better SBCC programs. This video lays out the five-point strategic agenda (https://www.spring-nutrition.org/publications/reports/designing-future-nutrition-social-and-behavior-change-communication-how-achieve) that emerged from the event, Designing the Future of Nutrition Social and Behavior Change Communication: How to Achieve Impact at Scale (https://www.spring-nutrition.org/events/designing-future-nutrition-social-and-behavior-change-communication-how-achieve-impact-scale).

Rear Admiral Tim Ziemer ’68 is a nationally recognized strategist and government and nonprofit executive. With a style that is focused and self-effacing, Tim is widely regarded by major media and the United States government as “one of the most quietly effective leaders in public health.” For the last nine years, he has led the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), a historic U.S. government initiative to reduce the burden of malaria and help relieve poverty. Since its launch in 2006, PMI has contributed significantly to the Global Health Initiative’s goal of ending preventable child and maternal deaths. In Africa, PMI has helped reduce malaria mortality in children under five by 58 percent. Connect with Wheaton: www.wheaton.edu http://alumni.wheaton.edu

There was an old man asked me what i would do if i saw a man urinating on a street. I didn't find out the answer because I was a girl, talking about it with a man made me ashamed. I had kept the question for a long time before I paid attention to the surrouding area I live. There are lots of hospitals here. The hospitals are not as clean as I used to think about. People leave litter on pavements, wait for hours to their treatment turns, sleep on the ground at night,...and urinate on the walls, in front of the hospitals. They can be taxi driver, motorbike driver, relatives of patients,...They don't know where to go to the restrooms because the sad truth is that there are rarely public restrooms in the city. Here are my two solutions. #1. Paiting the walls Why are walls in kindergarten cleaner than in hospitals? Because of kids. My idea is paiting the walls with something related to babies. Nobody want to hurt a lovey baby. Make them ashamed with their behaviours. #2. Restrooms 24/24 There are a lot of convenience stores in the city. They have clean restrooms but people are awkward to use without buying anything from stores. I think we should cooperate with these stores to make a change. Encourage people to use the restrooms with a sign in front of the stores (restrooms for free for example). Let people use with a friendly greetings, like use their restrooms at home. This change is not only advertising for the stores but also increase the sale.

Vietnamese goverment is taking steps to improve the treatment of waste and raise awareness of people about this problem following The 2020 National Strategy for integrated management of waste. However, challenges are the prices and potentials of calling for investors to build waste treatment plants in the long term in replacement of building temporary landfill sites.
