    • panoptICONS Utrecht

      from FRONT404 Added 94.7K 662 14

‘panoptICONS’ addresses the fact that you are constantly being watched by surveillance cameras in city centres. The surveillance camera seems to have become a real pest that feeds on our privacy. To represent this, camera birds - city birds with cameras instead of heads - were placed throughout the city center of Utrecht where they feed on our presence. In addition, a camera bird in captivity was displayed to show the feeding process and to make the everyday breach of our privacy more personal and tangible. panoptICONS is a project by Thomas voor 't Hekke and Bas van Oerle who work together by the name of FRONT404. • FITC Amsterdam 2012 Opening Titles

        from Floris Vos Added 82.2K 2,650 54

We started with the theme of personality in social media at first. After narrowing it down and let it match with FITC we took it into the direction of the creation process. We wanted the viewer to be sucked into the mind of a creative. Show his roller coaster of emotions in his process. We contacted creative writer Tifene Huchet to write the story. She shaped Sam, a man that dreamed about discovering the universe since he was a little boy and is driven by it till this day. After creating a moving storyboard and treatment a lot of people became enthusiastic and joined us to fight the deadline (2 1/2 weeks from there on). With guys working from Sweden & Los Angeles, Skype was a real invention! We divided scenes, so everybody could do his own bit. With rendering and compositing done at our studio we could match the final look and created it as a whole. We aimed on creating a film noir look with its typical lighting and be very subtle with adding color. Studio Takt did an amazing job (again!). He finished it in only 4 days. We're surprised how he achieved to glue all scenes together smoothly. Thank you guys, we think it was a labour of love! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Direction & Design: Floris Vos (Soulbase) & Menno Fokma Creative Writer: Tifene Huchet Music & Sounddesign: Joris Van Grunsven (Studio Takt) Narrator: Terry Mann / Boy: Mick Lefevre Animators/Designers: Fredrik Ekholm / Heerko Groefsema / Kevin Megens / Sander Van Dijk / Ton Mikkers / Wouter Kroese / Marius Denisse / Johannes Matsson Soulbase FB: facebook.com/SoulbaseMotionDesign Menno Fokma Studio FB: facebook.com/mennofokmastudio

            from DANIELDEBRUIN Added 68.7K 216 7

3d printing allows me to create products more swiftly and more efficiently than ever. but these products don't feel mine. they are merely a product of this new technology. I love technology but how can I reclaim ownership of my work? perhaps by building the machine that produces the work. perhaps by physically powering the machine, which I built, that produces the work. in hopes of rediscovering the sense of having created something, I create. from Morten Koldby Added

A short piece I shot in Utrecht, Holland over a few afternoons & evenings in march. I really enjoyed the old historic city centre with the canals and beautiful dutch architecture. I shot it on the Black Magic Cinema Camera with the micro four thirds mount. Everything was shot with a Nikon 50mm 1,4G lens, mounted with the Metabones Speedbooster and a GenusTech variND. The Nikon 50 isn't the sharpest, but I like the organic look it produces on the wider apertures. Everything was either handheld or on a monopod. The bmcc is certainly no lowlight champion, but with the added stop or so from the speed booster, it works quite well for even darkish street shots if you have fast glass. I like the look from this camera more & more every time I use it and I love how far the raw files can be pushed in the grade. Download the original prores lt file for the best quality. Edited in Final Cut Pro X and graded in Davinci Resolve 10. Music is "Sneeuwland" by Oskar Schuster (http://oskarschuster.com/)
