Great back-country skiing near Golden BC. A popular route is to skin up to the top of Rudi's Run just north of Kicking Horse Resort. Great terrain and amazing views.

Glacier National Park in the Canadian Rockies offers some of the most spectacular hikes in the world. Most have some pretty good elevation gain but the wow factor is worth it. Glacier Crest Hike starts just west of the top of the Rogers Pass. It is about 6 hours return and has an elevation gain of over 900 metres in less than 7 kms one way. It is definitely worth it.

The views are outstanding on this hike. You begin by taking the gondola up to the top of the mountain at Kicking Horse Resort Golden BC. It is only open July and August unfortunately. From the top of the Gondola, you follow an east trail for about 15 minutes south into the entrance into Superbowl. The trail continues behind the Ski Patrol hut to the top of T2. It is about another 30 minutes or less. The trail is not great near the top especially. It is too bad, Kicking Horse doesn't work on this trail for easier access as it is quite steep in a few spots. It is not bad going up but coming down it can be tricky with loose dirt and rocks. If you take it slowly it is okay. From the top you continue south along the ridge for another 30 minutes and it is spectacular with awesome views in every direction. It took me 3 hours return from the bottom of the Gondola.

One of the great Hikes in Yoho National Park near Golden BC is to Yoho Lake. It isn't a tough one. You start at Takakkaw Falls which is one of the highest waterfalls in North American and it is a pleasant climb for about an hour and a half, or so to the pass where you come across Yoho Lake. There is a small picnic area and primitive camp ground. We continued over the pass towards Emerald Lake and then followed the Burgess Pass trail for abound 45 minutes to get a great view of Emerald Lake and then turned around and made our way back to Takakkaw falls. If you have two cars it is great to leave one at either Takakkaw Falls or Emerald Lake and then continue over the pass. Overall this hike was about 4 hours or so and was very pleasant.

Another great day at Kicking Horse Resort. The best spot we found was to the top of both T2 and Terminator Ridge. Boot top powder and no one there.
