Great filmmakers should never let a lack of funds get in the way of an epic project. If you're searching for a piece of equipment to give your film a polished edge, look no further than your garage. A car can supply that extra professional look without costing extra professional dollars. Genre | Hindi Alternative/Indie Rock Credits: Music | Abhishek Dasgupta | Bhushan Gachake Video | Suhaib Syed Special Thanks | Internet | Vimeo Video School Camera | Canon SX150IS Release Note: On Sunday May 20, 2012, we (i.e.Abhishek Dasgupta, Bhushan Gachake and Suhaib Syed) will release a music video for ‘Balram’ a track made by Abhishek as part of his first EP. It will not be a release backed by a production house or a music label, it will not be a release to make money, it will not be a release anticipated by many and it will not be a release that would shatter the space time continuum or dent the digital universe. What it will be is a triumph of individualism, a celebration of this phenomenon called internet and an ode to the online community. It will be a simple upload on youtube. (Not Vimeo, since our government/ISP decided to block it) "All media are extensions of some human faculty- mental or physical" - Marshall McLuhan. The wheel is an extension of the foot, the book is an extension of the eye, and, we feel, the internet is an extension of the human spirit. The extension of any one sense displaces the other senses and alters the way we think, the way we see the world, the way we see ourselves. When these changes are made, men change. Humans are primarily creators and to us the internet is the enabler of this creative spirit, the liberator of creativity from greed. When we set out to make this video, all we had in our mind was an idea. An idea strangled by doubts and uncertainties. None of us knew anything about video making and neither did we have the money to hire people. So, armed with a point and shoot camera, a budget of Rs.800 and relying solely on tutorials off the internet, we took the plunge and shot a test video. We spent 16hrs straight, working on a single shot, slowly adding new elements, learning at every step. We could not stop, concept or no concept, we wanted to shoot stuff just to see how it would turn out. And in the process we have had to surpass hurdles of laughable proportions, from not knowing how to edit, to not having a proper PC to edit on. When a friend was gracious enough to lend his old DSLR, we could not use it, simply because we had no idea how to set it up! Finally, after six months of pushing our DIY skills to the limit, this is what we have. Although it’s made on a budget that could re-define the term “shoe-string”, it has turned out to be something, we feel, is worthy of your three minutes.

I have wanted to do a swishblog for a while now and couldn't figure out on what. Well, one day while at work I thought of how at times going to work feels like Groundhogs day and it's just the same thing over and over and over and over again. So my swishblog is a play on the groundhogs day idea of repeating patterns. This is my interpretation of what it feels like to sit at my desk. Btw, I don't have the most steady hand so my apology in advance! LOL Filmed on T2i Edited on Final Cut Express
