Next in the series on Paul's Letter to the Corinthians. Paul's letter continues in an autobiographical vein, as he describes that whether he lives or dies he is bound to his Corinthian converts. Paul speaks as a church father and leader, and sets a very high bar for current Christian leaders and pastors. He has corrupted no one he says, he has exploited no one - everything that Paul says and does is aimed at bringing the church to a greater maturity and love for their Saviour. Paul had hurt the Corinthians with a letter he had written to them. This is his continuing reply to them, and the Corinthians response to that letter. Enjoy+ More details
Chris continues the series in comparing and contrasting the Roman pagan culture with our own pagan culture. Chris reads from 2 Corinthians 7, and certainly one well known verse about being unequally yoked with unbelievers. Chris unpacks this statement and contrasts how in the past the church has tended to baton down the hatches and withdraw from the culture. Chris says this isn't what Paul is saying, and it doesn't detract from being led by the Spirit into even marrying someone who isn't a Christian yet. As ever Paul is descriptive of his own feelings, sharing his own life. Lots of room for conversation. Enjoy+ More details
Chris continues the series in one of the most autobiographical of all of Paul's letters. Paul describes his reaction to being slandered, beaten, falsely accused etc. His love for his converts is obvious, as well as his desire to reflect Jesus in all he says and does.+ More details
Presented by Chas Walker. Chas is married to Kate with two adorable children. In this message Chas contrasts the message of our culture, with the message of "The Kingdom". If the Kingdom of God is unfamiliar to you, or even if your watching and not a believer, this message may help explain the values of our western culture (celebrity, youth, power and success) with those of a first century Jew purporting to be the messiah of Israel and Gods only son. From 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. Chris expounds these few verses, ending with the judgement seat of Christ and what this might mean for Christians. Its a stimulating talk to Christians especially to remember their motivation, ambition, heart etc will one by day be evaluated before God, and one another. Its an encouragement to do "what pleases the Lord", knowing that he is a gracious and loving father that rewards all.+ More details
Chris takes the verses of 2 Corinthians 2:5-11. Its a challenging account of one mans forgiveness and remorse, not too different from the story of the prodigal son. Chris quotes Jesus from Matthew 18 as the basis of speaking to one another in love when we are hurt by the actions of another. Chris uses these verses to compare and contrast the repentant man acknowledged by the church and Paul, with someone unwilling to admit they have done wrong, even when gently confronted against overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Its a moving account of what true repentance looks like, reminding us all to keep short accounts with one another and God.+ More details
Chris shares some vision and values from the church, from loving the wider church, maturing and growing as individuals, seeing the Christian church as one, making Jesus' main priority our priority, and loving the bible as our only means of understanding completely God's plan for us as human beings. Chris also shares how God The Holy Spirit has spoken to him in the past, and how these interactions have shaped him and his understanding of what's really important in church life.+ More details
