This route is undoubtedly one of the finest tours one could take of the southwest region. Each day samples a plethora of what makes the southwest one of the most unique hiking destinations of the world. Expect to hike above, into, and around captivating narrows, kayenta walled canyons, colorful slick rock domes, overhanging arches, and serene waterfalls. If I had to pick one trek as the premier sampler of the unique landscape of the Colorado Plateu, I recommend this route with-out hesitation. Every bend of the route will astonish you, bringing back the wonders of planet earth that resonates from the southwest. Wilderness Information: The trek travels through Capital Reef National Park and the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Capital Reef is located in south-central Utah and is relatively a lesser-known park, It did not have a paved road until 1961. Captial Reef major geographical feature is the Waterpocket Fold. It is a dramatic almost 100 mile long upheaval of earth that reaches over 2500 ft at its highest point to the valley floor of Halls Creek. It begins from the Thousand Lake Plateu and its spine continues its rugged and wrinkled way to Lake Powell. Due to extremes in temperatures in both the summer and winter months, the season from backpackers is spring and fall, but even during these times expect possible swings in temperatures and be prepared for all conditions.
