A Motion Graphics project. I was given the theme of 'Environment' to interpret as I saw fit, and produce an appropriate motion study. I decided to look at how the environment affects peoples' emotional state of being. This piece was inspired by videos with surreal elements, such as 'Little Talks' and 'The Judderman advert'. Comments and criticism always welcome :)

                  • The Coldest Storm of the Season Impacts San Jose, CA (12-12-12)

In this video, it shows the coldest storm system of the season so far to impact San Jose, CA with seasonably cold temps and scattered rain showers. This was also a very special day since the date this day was 12-12-12! In the morning, an isolated rain shower during the early morning, around just passed 8:45 a.m. or so. Breezy, northwesterly winds were also observed. Then coming 10:45 a.m., a heavier rain shower, possibly a thundershower, approached our area coming from the northwest. I was around the parking lot of Eastridge Mall, particularly in front of the JCPenny's. The skies quickly turned ominous as the isolated storm cell came through our area. The skies darkened; skies looking ominous and stormy with mammatus-like formations as the "wall cloud" of this system comes through. Then winds slowly increased a bit and the rain finally started to come down shortly after. I went on Tully Rd as soon as the main rain core arrived. The rain lit up a little bit while heading back towards the Evergreen area. Despite the moderate rainfall, there was no flooding concerns since this was just an isolated rain event. This overall storm system was weak so the rain wasn't covering the whole area, the showers and rain showers were spotty. The same isolated storm cell slowly continued to drift south southeastward and still was raining just after 11:00 a.m. Then the isolated storm finally shows signs that it was now leaving our area, coming around 11:25 a.m. The skies finally cleared dramatically coming 11:30 a.m. or so. It appeared that that was the last of the rain for the morning hours this day. I then went up to Groesbeck Hill Park to view the nice San Jose/Silicon Valley from up the hills of the park. The skies were clearing quite a bit with a few distant light showers around the valley. *I was trying to enjoy this day, especially coming 12:12 p.m. since we won't be seeing the date reading 12-12-12, 12:12 p.m. anytime soon...oh let's say, the next 100 years or so!* I took photos and a bit of video during my visit up at the park. In the video, the couple photos that I was in was actually during 12:12 p.m.! However, I missed getting a third photo of myself on the dot...it was 12:13 p.m.. lol. It was a good view of the city up here though! The hills were also turning green from the recent rains/storms we had. It also looked like there were isolated showers just to the northwest but appeared to be heading my way so I quickly packed up and left the area...after taking one more photo of myself lol. As quickly as the skies cleared, it went back to showery/rainy conditions as the spotty, isolated showers we saw from up at Groesbeck Hill Park finally drifted into my location by the early afternoon while I was around Fowler Creek Park/Fowler Rd. A rainbow was spotted this time since the sun came out while the rain showers were still going. It was a beautiful sight to see, along with the green eastern foothills of Mt. Hamilton. The view was viewed while along Yerba Buena Rd. Then I was headed to EVC after seeing the rainbow. Driving in the rain, with the sun shining on the bright, shining wet road is hazardous...yet pretty neat to drive through :) More info about this cold storm system: This low pressure storm system was from the Gulf of Alaska which took a drop down into California, which in fact started Tuesday night. This storm brought rain showers to numerous areas from San Francisco to Los Angeles. But due to the weak nature of this system, places will just pick up anywhere from about 0.01 to 0.50 inches of rain, due to the storm's spotty, showery nature. As the storm pushed inland and settled over the state, chilly air filtered in, bringing snow levels in range from 2,000 to 3,000 feet from north to south in the Sierra by later Wednesday night and Thursday. Although this isn't a major storm, it was the coldest so far this year. Snow levels across the higher peaks surrounding San Francisco Bay, including Mt. Hamilton, was low enough for snow showers, but accumulations will be well under an inch. The storm continued to move out of California on Friday leaving behind chilly, but a brief dry weather period for the beginning of the coming weekend...despite an additional round of light rain showers throughout the midday and afternoon of Friday. We were forecasted for more rounds of rain as unsettled weather will continue by the latter part of the weekend and through the following week...
