Here a baluster is recreated with measurements from three 1962 Bureau of Land Management photos . The original Banister was removed/stolen some time after 1962 and now will be duplicated for the Wells Hotel in Garnet Montana. Wood used for the "new " banister is100(+/-)year old very dry Douglas Fir, re-cut and turned from reclaimed barn beams. The resulting replacement Banister will appear to be "old", complete with scrapes, scratches, nail holes etcetera. If one looks in the back ground the finished newel post and a bucket of balusters will be noticed. Garnet Ghost Town was a mining town approximately 45 miles east of Missoula MT.+ More details
