"Life will teach you to be a good teacher. If you care, life will show you many, many examples. It will lay all the lessons right before you and all you have to do is bend over and collect these lessons and put them in some order and fashion and you can teach anybody." - Dave LaBelle This video is an excerpt from my Ohio University masters project on Dave LaBelle, one of my teachers from Western Kentucky University. It features interviews with LaBelle and several of his students. The project also includes another 8 sections which go into further detail about Dave and his life as a photographer and a teacher.

Historically, Murray has been a town of black and white. But Abby Reinhardt doesn't see color that way anymore. She sees her adopted Liberian sister Joyce and brother Freeman as gifts from God. She said they have helped her learn the true meaning of having a brother and sister. "Colors enrich your life," Abby Reinhardt said. Angels are a "rainbow of colors ... and rainbows are pretty brilliant," she said.

Chris Jensen, deployed to Iraq three times, faces another deployment to Afghanistan on Dec. 27. He and his wife, Holly, married nine years ago, have been separated for nearly half their marriage. “You’re more scared that when you come back your kids aren’t going to remember who you are,“ Chris said. He stays connected with his family by recording himself reading bedtime stories to his children. Through these videos, they can see his face and hear his voice at the end of each day while he is away. Nevertheless, Chris worries that his son, Ryan, might face challenges while transitioning from boyhood to manhood without his father. This is my multimedia piece from Mountain Workshops in Elizabethtown, Ky. I was lucky to have Liz O. Baylen from the L.A. Times as my coach. She was wonderful. Jake Stevens and Bethany Mollenkof also helped me with editing and gave me great ideas for shooting. Jonathan D. Woods sponsored my tuition through his Mountain Workshops Scholarship. And of course, the Jensen family were the best subjects that I could have hoped to find. So, thanks everybody!

This film is the winner of the 2011 Western Kentucky University Film Festival. A young comic book writer wakes up one morning to discover that he has lost everything. His friends, lover and even the color green itself has disappeared and his comic won't even sell. As he spirals into a world of obsession and depression, with even his only remaining "friends" abusing him he can only wonder, do his recurring dreams of a woman with green eyes mean anything? This film was produced as my thesis film for the TV/Film Production major at Western Kentucky University, as well as my Honors program Capstone Experience. Everything was shot on the Canon 7d, with audio recorded separately into a zoom H2 audio recorder. Editing was done in Adobe Premier Pro and Adobe After Effects. Sound mixed in Adobe Soundbooth and Adobe Audition.
