morethanme.org Get girls off the street and into school in Liberia, West Africa. Katie Meyler - katie@morethanme.org After meeting Carlito, a 4-year-old boy who slept under a car in Bolivia, Katie was never the same. She knew she would spend her life working on behalf of Carlito and children like him. She lives by the motto, "Strangers are friends we haven't met yet." Macintosh Johnson - West Point Scholarship Coordinator West Point is home to Macintosh. He was born and raised here, and he knows the challenges of this area because they have been his own. Macintosh is passionate about seeing West Point rise, and he believes the only way that it can happen is if the children, unlike most of their parents, receive an education. "Address by General of the Army Douglas MacArthur to the Members of the Association of Graduates, U.S.M.A., the Corps of Cadets and Distinguished Guests upon his acceptance of The Sylvanus Thayer Award. United States Military Academy, West Point, New York, 12 May 1962." This recording comes from a vinyl recording of the event presented to my father who was in his second year at USMA and in attendance for the address. This recording is in the public domain. Feel free to download and copy (link at bottom-right), but please give credit if you upload it to another video site - it took some time to rip the LP, remove the pops and hiss, etc. I also have scanned and uploaded a PDF of the original program, including the full text of the speech here: http://www.blogbat.us/blog/m/USMA%20MacArthur%20Farewell%20Address%2062.pdf Additionally, since the PDF document is comprised of scanned images, the text cannot be highlighted and copied as text. You can find the text-format (copy/paste-friendly) here: http://www.nationalcenter.org/MacArthurFarewell.html
