This is best watched after you've seen the original film! http://www.vimeo.com/26903125/ DIRECTED BY WILLIAM MAGER http://wlmager.com http://www.twitter.com/wlmager WRITTEN BY CHARLIE SWINBOURNE http://charlieswinbourne.com/ http://www.twitter.com/charlie_swin DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT: Hands Solo had a long and complex development process. In writer Charlie Swinbourne's original draft of the script, Hands Solo's parents were both alive and grudgingly proud of their son's day job. As subsequent drafts were written, the parents were dead and Hands was an orphan. Ilan Dwek and Jean St Clair survived through the edit until very late on, when the film was 17 minutes long and we had to make some difficult cuts. Sadly, the parents had to be sacrificed because: - The film was too long with their scenes included. - Their storyline didn't really have a conclusion so felt redundant. - The overall tone of the scenes with Hands talking about his parents, while funny, was also quite sad and didn't really fit in with the more lighthearted tone of the film as a whole. But now we can finally show audiences this deleted scene, and it almost works as a standalone film! In this clip you learn where Hands might have inherited his incredible powers, how his parents died... and most of all - just where did he find that advert for auditions in the first place? What if a Deaf man became an internationally famous adult film star, all because he's very very good with his hands? Hands Solo is a short comedy mockumentary about one lucky person who makes it to the top. DIRECTED BY WILLIAM MAGER http://wlmager.com http://www.twitter.com/wlmager WRITTEN BY CHARLIE SWINBOURNE http://charlieswinbourne.com/ http://www.twitter.com/charlie_swin DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT: Three years ago this month, I was in the pub with Charlie Swinbourne watching the end of a disappointing Euro 2008 game, when he reached into his rucksack and brought out a script he wanted me to read. It was called HANDS SOLO. I knew right there and then I wanted to make that film no matter what. It was the start of a beautiful working relationship, and a long filmmaking process. 3 years later, after many late night meetings, email exchanges, filming days and editing, Hands Solo has been round the world at various festivals, won lots of awards, reviewed in Empire magazine and Sight and Sound, shocked a few people and made even more people laugh. We've even caused an outrage in The Daily Mail which means we've finally become truly famous... http://twitpic.com/5crv6i Most recently it was shown at Deaf in the Picture in Amsterdam and at Clin D'Oeil in Reims where it won best special effects for the amazing work done by the animator, James Merry. It's now on YouTube and we want as many people as possible to watch it. You can help us to achieve this by: 1 - Watching, liking and commenting on the video on YouTube 2 - Passing it on to your friends by email 3 - Tweeting about it, facebooking it (and even putting it on MySpace and Bebo if you still use those) 4 - Become a fan of Hands Solo on facebook.
