Whitestone Motion Pictures is proud to present Heartless: The Story of the Tin Man. Based on the backstory of one of the most beloved childrenʼs novels of all time comes the extraordinary love story between a simple woodsman and a beautiful maiden. Not having many possessions but wanting to marry his maiden, the woodsman sets his heart to build a large and beautiful cabin. L. Frank Baum wrote the back story to the Tin Woodsman in his book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Heartless: The Story of the Tin Man is Whitestone Motion Pictures retelling this little known story of the tragic arc of a beloved character who was once human, made of flesh and blood that turned into tin. I just want to thank you all so much for the overwhelming support for this story reel! I created this during a time when I was struggling to remain an artist. And it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Randomly enough, my story surrounding the creation of these, got me selected as a finalist for the NFL’s “Together We Make Football Story Contest.” If you feel so inclined, check out the rest of my story on my tumblr blog. http://heidijogilbert.tumblr.com/post/68476879161/here-is-the-story-surrounding-the-making-of-these You can follow the link below to vote for me and help me win. Thank you everyone! http://on.nfl.com/heidi Dear Stephen Schwartz, I know you can relate to the plight of loving a story, loving a medium, and trying to convince someone in power to see your vision! You did it with Marc Platt when you convinced him to make it a stage musical. I’m just approaching you with the same sincerity. Is it possible to talk you out of doing a live action movie adaptation? Would you consider doing a traditionally animated adaptation? In my heart I think the musical needs the medium, and I think the medium needs your musical. I just love them both so much and hopefully that shows through in the story reel. Sincerely, Heidi Jo Gilbert

I tried using my DVD Camcorder that I bought before I knew that they were rubbish to use with a Mac and iMovie. It took forever to get the footage into a format iMovie could read, but I did it...sort of. Thommy B, this one's for you. Music: "Phantom Limb" by The Shins

This one came a long way. I originally had the idea a couple of month ago while in Australia where I remembered an old project I worked on as a freelancer at a animation and motion design company called Waxeye a couple of years ago. All I could remember is that koala getting burned, maybe by a flamethrower, maybe not. And I actually never seen the finished animation, so I thought, why not recreating the whole thing, simple animation, just for fun, as an exercise. And then I started to add ideas, characters and justifications. And well. It turned out like this. I have a lot more ideas to create some kind of short series. I know people will see a lot of Happy Tree Friends influence, but while being familiar with them, I don't think it happened on a conscious level. I think I was more inspired by what inspired them in the first place: cartoon are basically super violent stories with the blood and gore removed. Itchy & Scratchy is probably a more conscious influence, but I thought also of Peter Jackson's early films and classic Warner Bros cartoons obviously.

Has anyone ever said… “you work too hard?” Has anyone ever told you to “slow down?” Has an answering machine ever come to life and sucked you into a vortex of fun? Well, that happened to us this year. We nearly destroyed our office, covering every inch in over 200 lbs. of shredded paper. Then, we had a bit of fun, got a little weird, and let Harold Perrineau narrate the result. But the real point of this project was to give a special thanks to all of our clients and collaborators who have given us an incredible amount of support and trust this last year. And we have honored that continuing commitment by making a donation in their honor to the National Forest Foundation, who will be planting thousands of trees this year to help restore and enhance our National Forests and Grasslands. For more information, you can visit: http://www.nationalforests.org AND, anyone watching can help us donate more to the cause! For every LIKE we get on this video, PDS will donate an additional $1 to the foundation which helps plant yet another tree! And on and on we go, breathing in some sweet O2. And we know what you're thinking, "What about all of that paper they wasted in making the video?" Well, we re-used it of course! If you are one of those lucky folks to have received boxes stuffed to the brim with our shredded snow paper, you should start an OFFICE FLURRY of your own!! Throw a snowball at someone! Do it!! At the very least, have a Happy Holiday!
