Tickets are on sale for this highly anticipated Thinema Screening (Theatre in Cinema) £12/£11 concessions - guide 12A Monday 23rd March, 7pm and Saturday 28th March, 2pm Book now via http://light-house.co.uk/calendar/news/2014/12/maxine-peake-as-hamlet/ From its sell-out run at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre comes this unique and critically acclaimed production of Shakespeare's tragic Hamlet. In this stripped-back, fresh and fast-paced version, BAFTA nominee Maxine Peake creates a Hamlet for now, giving a performance hailed as "delicately ferocious" by The Guardian and "a milestone Hamlet" by the Manchester Evening News. Hamlet is Shakespeare’s most iconic work. The play explodes with big ideas and is the ultimate story of loyalty, love, betrayal, murder and madness. Hamlet's father is dead and Denmark has crowned a new king. Consumed by grief, he struggles to exact revenge, with devastating consequences. This groundbreaking stage production, directed by Sarah Frankcom, was the Royal Exchange’s fastest-selling show in a decade. Alongside Maxine Peake as the eponymous prince, a number of other roles, including Polonious and Rosencrantz, are also played by women. Hamlet is brought to cinemas by director Margaret Williams, whose Written on Skin for the Royal Opera House/BBC won the Gramophone Contemporary Award and the Diapason d’or, and producers Anne Beresford and Debbie Gray, the team behind the highly successful cinema broadcast of Peter Grimes on Aldeburgh Beach.

Thinema - Theatre Streamed Live to Cinema Latest screenings from the Royal Shakespeare Company Love’s Labour’s Lost - Weds 11th February 7pm Tickets £14/£12 Visit http://light-house.co.uk/calendar/cinema/2014/10/rsc-live-loves-labours-lost/ Summer 1914. In order to dedicate themselves to a life of study, the King and his friends take an oath to avoid the company of women for three years. No sooner have they made their pledge than the Princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting arrive, presenting them with a severe test of resolve. Shakespeare’s sparkling comedy delights in championing and then unravelling an unrealistic vow, mischievously suggesting that the study of the opposite sex is in fact the highest of all academic endeavours. Only at the end of the play is the merriment curtailed as the lovers agree to submit to a period apart, unaware that the world around them is about to be utterly transformed by the war to end all wars. Love’s Labour’s Won, or Much Ado About Nothing Weds 4th March 7pm £14/£12 concessions Visit http://light-house.co.uk/calendar/2014/10/rsc-live-loves-labours-won/ Autumn 1918. A group of soldiers return from the trenches. The world-weary Benedick and his friend Claudio find themselves reacquainted with Beatrice and Hero. As memories of conflict give way to a life of parties and masked balls, Claudio and Hero fall madly, deeply in love, while Benedick and Beatrice reignite their own altogether more combative courtship. Shakespeare’s comic romance plays out amidst the brittle high spirits of a post-war house party, as youthful passions run riot, lovers are deceived and happiness is threatened – before peace ultimately wins the day. Christopher Luscombe directs the second of Shakespeare’s matching pair of comedies that rejoice in our capacity to find love in the most unlikely places. Better known as Much Ado About Nothing, the play is performed under the title Love’s Labour’s Won, a name possibly given to it during Shakespeare’s lifetime.

A quick throw together of some winter flights around the West Midlands and Staffordshire. I have been playing with the settings on my GoPro, alternating between Wide and Narrow recording modes. I will be sticking to the wide setting from now on - the recorded images seem to be of a lot better quality. At 4:40 you can just make a tiny dot out top left of shot; this was the local Police Helicopter flying roughly at the Phantom. As soon as I heard it coming, the throttle was pulled firmly down! Before I get flamed for this, I have my Maximum ceiling on the Phantom set to 390ft AGL.

The maiden flight of my DJI Phantom 2. Fitted with Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal and a GoPro3+ Black edition. Recorded near Pattingham, Wolverhampton. Mild breeze, low light. Drove around for 45 mins to find somewhere quiet and by the time I was happy, the sun had dropped quite low. I should really have left the gimbal and camera off for it's first flight, but then if I had stuffed it into the ground, i'd have had nothing to show for my purchase! Thankfully the flight went ok, was impressed with the stability of the quad. Flown in GPS mode for this flight and kept it within line of sight. Will be changing to Naza-M mode to try the Home Lock function as I started to struggle with orientation.
