The beauty of the everyday life parallels the insipidity of its monotony when commuting, and passengers share the common space of public transit while doing so, although mostly in silence. Rutina (routine) focuses on these individuals, who collectively form the working-class. With footage captured in 2012, the video is a lyrical narrative that shows a POV routine inside Montreal's subway. A French intellectual (whose name remains unknown) who was originally featured in cult documentarist Chris Marker's film "Le Fond De L'air Est Rouge : 1ère Partie : Les Mains Fragiles" (1998) is heard as loop, and Dante's Inferno is quoted. Soundtrack mix by Paula Monroy Original tracks: "The Plains/Bitter Dancer" (Fleet Foxes - Album: Helplessness Blues) "04 Waiting for Parvati (Mount Kailash mix; Raag Jog - Album: Shri Durga) "Slow Waltz" (Mike Oldfield - Album: Amarok) Original footage recorded at the Mount-Royal, Mtl, and in the installations of the Society of Transportation of Montreal, with a Cannon 6D and a pocket Samsung camcorder. Edited entirely in Premiere Pro.

I made this for my Foundation Diploma in Art and Design final project, at Harrow college. This is about me combining my fine art skills with my film in this exhibition, you get a real feel of my direction in my animation career. This is showing everyone it time for change, all over the world. Especially in these economic times of hardship, where we have to think about the future, do we continue to go down this path where we repeat history like a loop, are do we look for change for a better tomorrow. We can start by changing the class system so that no one suffers and we all live happy. We should all take inspiration from the working class people and try to enjoy life.

In The Thicket is a creative production company based in Sydney. inthethicket.com.au DocketBank came to us needing a way to explain the simplicity and ingenuity behind their great financial software. We used pencil-like animation to tell the story of a working-class family & how they used DocketBank; and combined it with a charismatic voiceover and lively music. The result is simple but effective. On brief & on budget.
