As part of a documentary series exploring life in the military I had the honor of producing this vignette on a remarkable Iraq war veteran. After an initial interview, we traveled to his hometown in southern Kansas to explore his life before and after joining the military. What followed was a cathartic experience for Dan as he shared his struggles of dealing with PTSD. Today Dan is a shining example of one who has served his country well and is now thriving thanks to support from friends and family. Thank you Dan for this personal experience and life changing story. Operation Hands On, Inc, (a 501(c) 3 - Non-Profit Charitable Organization) has produced an award-winning documentary film about how a small massage therapy clinic in San Antonio, Texas developed new techniques and procedures to facilitate the recovery of military burn patients. Our film tells the story of 7 servicemen and how the therapies they received advanced their healing and rehabilitation in ways that none of them ever dreamed was possible. Over the past 4 years, the therapists at San Antonio Massage & Spa have been able to greatly improve the lives of our severely wounded servicemen. Our goal with the documentary was to educate the military and civilian populations, as well as to get the message to policy makers so that these therapies will eventually be included in the recovery protocol for all burn survivors.

We just launched The Corporal Hoffman Series. This series is part of Threadless Causes, community-based design for the power of good. Each tee in this series tells the story of a wounded war veteran. And 25% of the sale of each of the tees will benefit Fashion Has Heart to support and benefit the wounded war veterans and heroes through art, design, and fashion. The Corporal Hoffman series brought together five wounded American soldiers from different military branches and five artists from all over the country. The two groups met for the first time this June in Grand Rapids, Michigan and collaborated to share each of the wounded soldiers' powerful stories through graphic design. These wearable works of art are featured not only on our site, but also at a special exhibit at ArtPrize, an international art contest showcasing work from over 1,000 artists now open in downtown Grand Rapids. http://www.threadless.com/curated/fashionhasheart/
