Xeriscaping is defined as landscaping or gardening in such a way that reduces or eliminates the need for irrigation by planting drought tolerant native plants. In 2005 and 2006 Idaho Rivers United awarded several landowners and businesses a grant to completely xeriscape their landscapes and yards. Using beautiful native grasses, shrubs, and flowers these landscapes were toured in 2009 and photos were taken. In the summer of 2014 photos were again taken to see how the plants had established themselves. Xeriscaping eliminates the need for excess watering while providing a beautiful and unique yard. This is a great example of what water efficiency looks like.

This is the third project I have completed using After Effects. We were to pull a topic out of a hat, and create an infographic about the selected subject. Mine was xeriscaping, which is a gardening technique designed to minimize water usage. You can read about it here, if your curiosity is incredibly overpowering: http://eartheasy.com/grow_xeriscape.htm Xeriscaping sounded a lot like a concentration camp for plants, to me, so I took that idea and ran with it. This project was single-handedly completed from storyboard to animation within 5 days. Big thanks to Tom Patterson for voice acting for me. He made a great angry German gardener.
