Channel 2 Friday Night Newscast with Yair Lapid: 'The parents of a young man who died of cancer will become grandparents. Court authorizes: Young man that died of cancer will become a father posthumously. Yair Lapid: A year and a half ago, we broadcasted Yifat Glick's story on Yulia and Vlad Posniansky on our Friday night newscast. Their beloved son, Baruch Posniansky, a fighter in an IDF combat unit, died of cancer at age 25. Days before his death, he signed a legal document that instructs his parents to use his seed to bring a grandchild to the world. Ever since, his parents have been fighting the legal system to uphold his Biological Will. Here is an excerpt from the story: Yifat Glick: A month before his death, Baruch deposited his sperm in the Tel HaShomer sperm bank, and signed a Biological Will. Baruch requested a new generation. Yulia Posniansky, Baruch's mother: We contacted Internet forums and many women wrote to us. These were women who considered having children, and saw an opportunity to have a child from a known family. Yair Lapid: This week, in the first decision of its kind, Hadera Family Court Judge Hadas Goldkorn ruled that Baruch Posniansky's Biological Will should be upheld in its entirety, because the will reflects the true intentions of the deceased and his parents, and because an intended mother has been found. Behind this unique battle, stands New Family Organization. New Family's Founder and Executive Director Irit Rosenblum: We've embarked on a journey that's taken over two years, and today is a colossal day. Vlad Posiniansky, Baruch's father: We received the news by telephone, and it is very emotional. What happened to us was very sad. Of course, we are anticipating continuing the process, and at some point, kissing and hugging our grandchild. Yair Lapid: We are also waiting to see the grandchild. We will follow up on this story.
