This is a clip from the closing sequence. This leads up to the falling of black snow. Dance Theater Workshop presents a multi-disciplinary performance by Seattle-based artists Zoe Scofield and Juniper Shuey. The critically acclaimed the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t combines Scofield’s disciplined physical distortion of classical technique with Shuey’s distilled visual design to create a heightened sense of reality. Supported by Morgan Henderson’s hypnotic, original score incorporating live sound design by Kamran Sadeghi, and lighting by Jessica Trundy, the devil…. creates a world shaped by accumulating, external forces as the company delves into a haunting physical, sonic and visual space shaped by brutality and grace. Performed with local dancers from Barnard College, Scofield and company perform what The Stranger has called “a beastly ballet, both harrowing and gorgeous.” Brendan Killey, The Stranger The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t is conceived and constructed by Zoe Scofield and Juniper Shuey, with choreography by Scofield and set and video design by Shuey. The work is performed by Scofield, Christiana Axelsen, Jim Kent or Adele Nickel, Allison Van Dyck, Shannon Stewart and dance students from Barnard College.

People have always wondered if the dream world can reveal more about the real world. As one man lies unconscious in the floor his brain races around trying to make sense of what has just happened.

These clips show some of my minicam work on the longest-running children's television programme: Blue Peter. The first shows an under-board camera for Helen's very first stunt for the programme and, had it not been for the crash helmet - it would almost certainly have been her last. Ouch! The speedboat racing was part of the 50th Anniversary programme. I fitted two waterproof cameras to each of the presenters' boats, giving a one-shot and a two-shot on each. I've added in some of the raw footage, as it is much cleaner than what was televised (I haven't got a particularly good signal in my area!) The cameras on the kites was also for the 50th Anniversary programme, and was filmed at the Bristol Kite Festival in 2008. The opening sequence was acheived by fitting a top-quality camera onto a custom-made gimbol mount, which, in turn, was mounted onto a 30ft long, glass-fibre pole. This gave the look of a kite lifting off from the ground. However, the second part shows the view from a large 'lifting-kite', which was at around 250ft from the ground. The horse-camera was a sort of 'experiment', but there has been some interest in using it for a project in the US. The dog-mounted camera footage is much better on the original tape... it doesn't look brilliant here - mainly due to being so compressed :-( If you are a Crufts organiser, or run Flyball competitons, drop me a line at the email address shown below. Since I recorded this footage, I have added an option of being able to record 'on-board', by means of a tiny(!) MPEG4 recorder. This set-up has already been used by a production company for several programmes - namely - 'My Life As A Dog' and a programme about pigs called (imaginitively!) 'My Life As A... yes, you guessed it.. Pig'. Search and Rescue is a 'possibility', but, as with any video-transmission system of this type, if the dog goes underground, you will lose the signal... not a lot I can do about that... unless you use a transmitter SO powerful...it cooks the dog! Paintballing is a terrific - but dodgy! - place to try and film, but I built this little system some years ago. You capture all the action as it happens... as you'll see! (The updated version has audio, but all you hear is a lot of huffing, puffing and swearing!)
