The One Minutes Series 'Domestic Odyssey' curated by 6okken

The One Minutes

This late summer, The One Minutes presents ‘Domestic Odyssey’, curated by Japanese collective 6okken. This selection of 18 one-minute films shows what daily life would be like in a hundred years from now if we continue to pursue our own uniqueness. The selected films were submitted from Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Georgia, Japan, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Kingdom and United States.

‘Domestic Odyssey’ will premiere 23 September at 6okken in Fujikawacguchiko Town, Japan before touring the world.

6okken started as an artist-run residence near Mt.Fuji in Japan, a base where the life of artists can interact with society.

In six houses, the artists spend time together, actively researching the environment they are part of. They define an "artist" as a person who continues to explore their unique perspectives and interests, which would vanish from the world if they let go of them. They believe that 'art' is not just about the work or production of art. It's a way of life in itself.

This series was made possible by the support of Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Pictoright Fund, City of Amsterdam and the six Rijkscultuurfondsen.

In 2023 and 2024, we will evolve our globally oriented program, focused on solidarity, collectivity and equal allocation, with which we want to make more voices heard. Read more: http://u.pc.cd/hux

Using the forces of video, The One Minutes wants to contribute to creating spaces for free expression, collective imagination, and global solidarity in our different, yet deeply interconnected realities.

Every two months, The One Minutes releases a new series of one-minute films exploring our current time in moving images. Museums and cultural organisations around the world subscribe to the series.
