Art & New Media
María Luján Oulton (@LuOulton) is a Cultural Producer focused in art and new media. She graduated in 2004 in PR and Communication; afterwards, she specialized in Arts and Cultural Management. She is currently working on her Master’s thesis about art games. María Luján specializes in creating new media art events and activities that promote cross-disciplinary practice. She first began working in a communication agency dedicated to technology while studying the history of art and new media. In 2007, she started an independent family project named Objeto a: An Art Gallery that also works as a cultural producer. The project first focused in contemporary art, involving different kinds of artistic expressions, but then evolved to include new media art, encouraging the realization of exhibitions and events that involve art, science, and technology. Currently, Objeto a is recognized as one of the few institutions in Argentina that cares for new media art, organizing exhibitions, contests, and a variety of transdisciplinary activities. From there, Luján runs Game on! El Arte en Juego, the first and only exhibition in Argentina focused on art, technology, and play. The exhibition originally started in 2009 and already has had three editions, hosted and invited by several educational and cultural institutions. She has also started working on the divulgation of art games, giving lectures in institutions and universities such as Universidad de Palermo (Buenos Aires), TEDxRiodelaplata (Buenos Aires), Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Bogotá), and DevHourmx (Mexico DF), among others.
