Conceptually driven by notions of the forensic aesthetic, Francesca’s photomedia practice explores the visual vernacular of the social landscape. Investigating themes of trauma, loss and decay, she documents the cohesive and competitive interface between the artificial and natural world. More recently, Francesca’s work has become hybrid in approach, employing DIY (Do-It-Yourself) and Gambiarra principles to create performances, immersive installations, and public interventions in and relating to transitional and eroded space of the built environment. She is particularly interested in questioning the relationship between memory and place and redefining a site of ruin in terms of empowerment and regeneration.
