Sometimes, people aren’t quite sure what to make of me when I say, “I’m a filmmaker.” Outside of LA or New York, you don’t often run into us. People wonder, if you aren’t a Hollywood director, what exactly do you do? Well…
I make movies. This means I write, I produce, I direct, I shoot, and I edit. I’m a one woman show.
And I love it.
To be all officially resume-ish: My narrative and documentary films have screened at festivals around the country including The San Francisco Documentary Festival and The Hollywood Film Festival. My corporate clients include, amongst others,American Idol-runner up Crystal Bowersox with The New York Rock Exchange, Gap Inc, Hearst Media Services, Wall Street Journal featured photographer, Jennifer Chaney, Facebook’s Clean Energy Grant Winner, Sunfunder, and arts fundraising platform, Pozible.
Before devoting myself to filmmaking, I spent 15 years working for Hallmark Cards, Inc as a Creative Strategist, Art/Editorial Director, and Writer. Pretty sure you can see that influence in both my more sentimental and humorous work.
I am a graduate of The San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking. I have a Master’s Degree in Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis and Clark College, in Portland, OR. I spent my junior year in college in New Zealand and Australia studying and working with women in film. I first got to know Jane Campion (The Piano) through her student work and she is still my favorite director.
I live in East San Francisco Bay with my two crazy kids, my husband and part-time co-producer, Jason Taylor, and one very large, very lazy cat named Bean.
