“Clothing that makes all the world a stage”
was the concept behind the brand founded by producer Kao Kanamori, alongside designers Akira Takeuchi and Tayuka Nakanishi, in 2001. The collections coming out from THEATRE PRODUCTS are a fine admixture of foreign styles combined with uniquely Japanese elegance. The flagship store opened in the Omotesando area in 2009. THEATRE PRODUCTS is known for their exciting fashion shows, often featuring musicians and performers. Their presentations break the mould in what we have come to expect from a “fashion brand”. In 2007, the atelier itself was transported to Parco Museum in Shibuya, Tokyo and became the exhibition space for eight days, turning the everyday functioning of the business into a living exhibition (“The state of THEATRE PRODUCTS” Planning: NANJO&ASSOCIATES). Again, in 2009, a fashion show was held for shoppers featuring animals and performers (“Spectacle in the Farm” Nasu Animal Kingdom, Tochigi, Nasu). In 2009, Ryosuke Uehara received the Kamekura Yusaku Award (D-BROS/DRAFT) for his graphic work at THEATRE PRODUCTS. In addition, the ongoing workshop “CUT & SEWN” has toured Indonesia and Iceland and is currently a part of the Kyoto University of Art and Design curriculum. started "THEATRE, yours" in 2010.
