I am the author of two professional books for school librarians and classroom teachers. In addition, I have two published books for children and families and maintain several Web sites that I authored or illustrated. I integrate oral storytelling into my author visits and workshops.
As an educator, I have served as a school librarian at every instructional level. I have also been a classroom teacher, district-level librarian mentor, literacy coach, and classroom teacher educator. I am currently an assistant professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman's University in Denton where I teach preservice school librarians.
I am an ardent advocate for high-quality school library programs faciliated by professional school librarians centered on classroom-library collaboration for instruction, the integration of authentic children’s and young adult literature and technology tools into the classroom curriculum, and family literacy.
