Led by artistic director Wendy Clinard, Clinard Dance Theatre presents contemporary dance rooted in flamenco, created by collaborators from a diverse range of artistic disciplines and cultural backgrounds. At the center of each work, Wendy explores personal and global concerns, connecting the audience to the world through art.
Continuing forward into year 2013 we strive to produce dance theatre which integrates the disciplines of flamenco and modern dance, painting, sculpture and video art. In addition to our performance initiatives which include presenting our repertoire works, Unraveling Rhythms, Jondo Portraits, Sueño Fuera Del Lugar: An Out of Place Dream, and premiering our newest project, From the Arctic to the Middle East: Broken Narratives by an American Flamenco Dancer, we will continue our ongoing Pilsen neighborhood outreach work, which was begun in December 2005, building and maintaining substantial inroads with the neighborhood’s youth population and nurturing the community’s art scene. Our adult flamenco classes, run continually throughout the year, will continue to be offered in two locations in Chicago. They will be augmented by special extended workshops conducted by Artistic Director Wendy Clinard.
