Up-and-coming independent filmmaker Gerald Patrick Fantone has fearlessly delved into the Canadian film industry after moving to Toronto from his native Philippines in 2003. He is a graduate of the film production program at York University and a Berlinale Talents alumnus where he was one of six Canadians to attend the program in 2011. Most recently, he was selected for the National Screen Institute’s (NSI) acclaimed Drama Prize Program where he produced his newest film. Gerald has also been mentored by Canadian directors Jerry Ciccorritti and John Greyson.
Gerald has made a name for himself with films that have played around the world including Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival (UK), Vancouver International Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, and Milan Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Additionally, his films have been featured by the Canadian Film Centre and Motion Picture of Canada; as well as acquired for international distribution. Gerald is a recipient of the bravoFACT! grant by Bell Media and Toronto Arts Council grant.
