The Lumen Christi Institute engages the rigorous intellectual culture of one of the world's great secular universities with the riches of the Catholic intellectual and spiritual traditions. Our universities are a vital source of knowledge for modern society and contribute greatly to the formation of its culture and values. The Lumen Christi Institute recognizes the importance of independent and open academic inquiry, and seeks to make available to the university community a better understanding of Catholic thought, culture, and spirituality. We envision a community of scholars--Catholic and non-Catholic alike--whose scholarly pursuits are enriched by a deeper encounter with the Catholic intellectual and spiritual traditions, the teaching of the church, and, ultimately, the light of Christ.
