An old turtle was tired of carrying his weight around by walking, so he asked the eagle to teach him to fly. "You can't fly; you're a turtle," the eagle said, but the turtle believed he was mistaken. He believed that, if he could practice enough, he could eventually learn to fly and would be free of his slow-footed lifestyle. He begged the eagle to take him into the air until the eagle agreed. The eagle flew with the turtle until they had reached a sufficient height, and the turtle requested that the eagle drop him. The eagle obliged, and the turtle fell like a stone and was dashed to pieces on the ground below.
