Friends call me Yonni. I'm a PhD historian focusing on black freedom struggle in North Carolina, especially at UNC-CH and in the Town of Chapel Hill. History, for me, is a grassroots organizing tool. I serve as 2nd Vice President and Chair of the History Committee of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP. I'm also a member of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). My two, wonderful, grown-up daughters live in Durham, NC.
