Roots to Harvest is about good food.
We are an organization located in Thunder Bay, Ontario who employs a number of high school students to develop and maintain urban gardens. Youth are exposed to the wide world of gardening, learning how to plan, design, implement and maintain an urban garden. Each student is employed full time in the summer, and part time during the school semester. During the summer, in addition to maintaining a small urban farm and running weekly markets, the group lends a hand at numerous local farms, learning growing techniques, and working up a sweat! It is Roots to Harvest's goal to provide opportunities for youth to learn about hard work, become knowledgeable about the importance of good local food, gain confidence and learn skills that will lead to sustainable livelihoods.
