sean burn is a writer, performer and outsider artist with a growing international reputation. he is also actively involved nationally in disability arts. he was shortlisted for a dadafest disability arts award 2009 and in 2011 successfully completed a major artist in residence project at the new gallery walsall in association with dash, 'reclaiming the languages of lunacy'. he is currently artist/mentor in residence with celf o gwmpas, wales. his latest play next swan down the river might be black - toured nationally thanks to arts council england national touring funding, was shortlisted for the alfred bradley bursary award and was published by aurora metro. his two dozen poetry / experimental films have received many screenings worldwide, as well as at tate modern and national film theatre studios, london. projects, exhibitions or residencies include those with arcadea; cesta, czech republic; dada-south; dash; fold gallery and fred (annual art invasion of cumbria); gallery of wonder, newcastle university; gulbenkian canterbury and lit up; humber mouth festival; interarte, germany; lancaster university and lancaster litfest; live art development agency; new word order; odins glow; ovada; platforms 00000008 / 10 and 12; shout festival; the stanley picker gallery; and whitley arts festival, reading. he has had three cd’s of his work released, most recently speaksong (with gareth mitchell, musician). he has had 8 pamphlets of his poetry and visual poetry published. his visual poetry pamphlet (mo thunder from knives forks and spoons press) was shortlisted for the michael marks award 2011. sean's third and latest full volume of poetry is that a bruise or a tattoo? (isbn 9781848612945) has just (september 2013) been published by shearsman press.
