"My work is about desire and human behaviour. And I don't attempt to solve or resolve anything.
I use different media to serve some ideas: from drawings, paintings, digital imaging, video, sculptures, installations and performances, to the human being."
Cyril Lepetit was born in Cherbourg, France (1970). He studied at the Ulster College of Art in Belfast (1993) and graduated at the ENSBA Caen in 1995. He lived in Paris until 1998. After a residency in Taiwan and Japan he moved to London in 2000 where he now lives and works.
"From our first caress to our last breath, will our desires have evolved" was the title of a performance he presented in Seduced: Sex and Art from Antiquity to Now, Barbican. His work was also seen in the group shows as: London in Six Easy Steps (Part 4) ICA London - Coalesce: Happenstance Smart Project Space, Amsterdam - Metropolis Rize: New Art from London Beijing Temporary Contemporary - Moving in Architecture Camden Art Centre - Daily Noise Leroy Nyman Gallery, Columbia University NY - Genetic Sculpture, Art Concept Galerie, Paris - Afiac Les Abattoirs, Toulouse and Centrefold Zoo Art Fair, London (Tate collection).
He has also exhibited with FRAC & CAC Basse-Normandie - Tel-Aviv Center for Contemporary Art - Le Lieu, Centre Art Actuel, Québec - Studio 303, Montréal - NIPAF Tokyo - Taidehalli Museum, Kunsthalle Helsinki and more. His last London solo show was at E:vent Gallery.
Last solo show was at Danielle Arnaud Contemporary Art, London 2010.
